Light:
|
Partial sun (eastern or eastern exposure).
|
|
Temperature:
|
As a potted plant, maintain indoor temperatures
above 60°
preferable above 65°.
|
|
Humidity:
|
Maintain
a 50% or higher however they will tolerate low levels with no harm.
|
|
Watering:
|
Bring
soil to a state of visual dryness between watering. When watering
thoroughly saturate soil until a little water runs out of the bottom
of the pot. They will thrive under a dry to wet watering cycle.
|
|
Fertilizer:
|
They are moderate feeders so a 1/4 tsp./gallon
once a week is a general recommendation. When growth slows in winter
discontinue feeding. Us a balanced fertilizer i.e. 15-15-15 or a
blooming fertilizer like Pro Gro ‘Grow’ 7-9-5 or Electra 5-10-3.

Pruning:
|
Prune
off any of the trailing stems that get to long to manage. Also,
pruning will thicken up the growth making a fuller specimen.

Insects and
Disease:
|
Alsobia have susceptibility to both mealy bugs
and thrip. Little problems with disease except for root disease when
grow under excessive moisture and cool temperatures.

Comments:
|
Alsobia
are excellent houseplants for hanging pots in windows with moderate
light. Grow with a little direct sunlight and they will flower
continuously. They are also tolerant to periods of dryness.
