Terrestrial Orchid ‘George’s Gold’ comes from the breeding program of the Hausermann family who have specialized in orchids for decades. It has an out-standing and unusual flower color; the petals are creamy chartreuse green with a dark burgundy lip. The flowers have a mild sweet fragrance and they are almost the size of small cattleya flowers. The plant produces multiple spikes when mature and each spike can have upwards of 20 flowers per stem. It blooms from March to May and the flowers last for months. This is a great low light plant that can be grown as a landscape plant in zone 9 or warmer. Sphagnum moss makes an ideal potting medium for terrestrial orchids since it retains moisture well.
